Jude's Seasonal Herbal Remedies: Recipes for Natural Healing

by Jude Todd, and Carly Wall

Llewellyn Publications, 2024 (240 pages)

With nearly 300 recipes for teas, tinctures, tonics and other treatments, this collection of restoratives ensures you are prepared for almost any ailment.  Following the success of beloved classic Jude's Herbal Home Remedies, Master herbalist and Naturopathic Doctor Jude Todd began assembling recipes for a new compendium.  After Jude passed away, her daughter Carly Wall found and edited her unfinished manuscript, cultivating it into a profound continuation of Jude's legacy. The resulting guide, organized by season, walks you through natural medicine for many conditions.

Jude Todd (1942-2012) was a Master Herbalist and Naturopathic Doctor who practiced herbal medicine for more than forty years.  Her previous book, Jude's Herbal Home Remedies, is a time-honored staple in the natural healing community.  Carly Wall, is an author and certified aromatherapist.  She has published over five books on the topic of herbs and aromatherapy.

I've gotten feedback that the book is well laid out and easy to read.  To get your copy go to Amazon or any bookshop, or go directly to the publisher at Jude's Seasonal Herbal Remedies | Llewellyn Worldwide, Ltd.

As of right now, it is on sale on the publisher's site, but I don't know how long the sale will last.  Meantime, I'm sharing a recipe or two here from the book that can act as a sedative tea to relieve depression and headaches.

Primrose Tea

Add 3 teaspoons of dried primrose leaves and flowers to 2 cups of boiling water.  Cover and steep 15 minutes.  Strain and sweeten with honey.  Drink warm as needed.

Skullcap Blend Tea

This blend is great to help relieve tension headaches and to induce sleep.  Mix together 1 Tablespoon each of skullcap, corn flowers, sage, and chamomile.  Store in a tightly closed container.  Stir 1 teaspoon of the mixture into 1 cup of boiling water.  Cover and steep 10 minutes.  Strain and sweeten with honey.  Drink as needed.  Do not use if pregnant or breastfeeding.
